“Create Over Consume” is my mantra for 2017 and a visual declaration for creatives to take action on one thing—create more work.
The ‘consume’ lettering represents the sweet things in life, which is a metaphor for the internet and how tempting it is to scroll endlessly. This is what we need to avoid as creatives—the temptation to consume.
‘Create’ is where we need to be and takes on a messy, paint filled aesthetic which is a reminder to creatives to get to the perfect, you start with the not-so-great, messy type of work.
I went as far as what kept me creative as a child and I discovered painting and getting my hands dirty with no real direction was what kept me creating. Combined with the “unhealthy things of life” I stayed in this era and grabbed some sweets that would make ‘consume’ tempting to eat.
From the calligraphic beginning, to lettering sketch, inking and Photoshop rendering.
Additional pen and paint icons were designed to emphasise the meaning of create and to highlight Adobe's inspiration for this illustration.
